My Political Color

>> Monday, April 26, 2010

Happy Monday everyone. It's Mellow Yellow Monday once again.  For this week I got a little bit serious about my political view.  Shown here is one of the campaign materials used by my presidential bet Simeon Benigno Cojuangco Aquino III or popularly known as Noynoy among the Filipinos.  He is the son of the famous political couple.  His mother is the former president of the Republic of the Philippines Corazon Aquino and Philippine hero Benigno Aquino, Jr.

Let me quote what is written in this campaign material.  It says,

"Corruption is the single biggest threat to our democracy.  It deprives the poor of the social services they badly need.  It destroys the very moral fiber of our society.  No reform agenda will succeed without a determined program to eradicate corruption.  It is the business, not just of government, but of every Filipino to fight corruption."

New Experience for Me

>> Sunday, April 25, 2010

For the first time since Erin was here, I was able to hold her in my arms without fear that I might break my fragile niece.  But yesterday for the first time, I did it.  Hurray!  She is bigger now with chubby cheeks that I want to squeeze but I am holding myself at bay or I might make her cry.  She cries like her mom used to when she was a baby.  This I learned from my mother.  Of all her children, Elanie was the one who cried a lot as a baby.  She thought she was going to be a singer when she grows up.  Sad to say, she did not. lol

Creativity from Mud

Meet Oliver Bagcal a.k.a. Putik Painter, a talented young man who hailed from Bagnos, Aurora, Isabela, Philippines. I watched Rated K just a moment ago and saw Korina featuring him in her show. I can’t help but feel very proud of this young man. He is a painter who utilizes mud as a medium in painting and other things that provided by nature. He is presently a scholar of the University of the Philippines. To know more about him and his masterpiece, click here. He is an example of a Filipino youth worthy of our praises and should be emulated. Keep it up Oliver. The Filipino nation is very proud of you.

Mellow Yellow Monday 3: Erin Leila

>> Monday, April 19, 2010

This is my niece Erin Leila.  This is the name I had given her.  She is my sister's second baby.  Eldridge's baby sister. This picture was taken when she was barely two months old and peacefully sleeping.  Look closely at her hand.  We had a good laugh when we saw her hand like this.  I am gonna make this picture a part of my scrapbook and will show her someday.

Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road?

>> Sunday, April 18, 2010

I’ve been tagged by a friend in Facebook in the note, “Why Did The chicken Cross The Road?”.  I love some of the answers.  They’re hilarious while some made me confused as to what they are really trying to convey.  I also find another version by David Madore which I like even better.  Read on and I hope you will enjoy it the way I do.

KINDERGARTEN TEACHER: To get to the other side.

PLATO: For the greater good.

ARISTOTLE: It is the nature of chickens to cross roads.

KARL MARX: It was a historical inevitability.

TIMOTHY LEARY: Because that's the only trip the establishment would let it take.

SADDAM HUSSEIN: This was an unprovoked act of rebellion and we were quite justified in dropping 50 tons of nerve gas on it.

RONALD REAGAN: I forget.

CAPTAIN JAMES T. KIRK: To boldly go where no chicken has gone before.

HIPPOCRATES: Because of an excess of phlegm in its pancreas.

ANDERSEN CONSULTING: Deregulation of the chicken's side of the road was threatening its dominant market position. The chicken was faced with significant challenges to create and develop the competencies required for the newly competitive market. Andersen Consulting ,in a partnering relationship with the client, helped the chicken by rethinking its physical distribution strategy and implementation processes. Using the Poultry Integration Model (PIM), Andersen helped the chicken use its skills, methodologies, knowledge, capital and experiences to align the chicken's people, processes and technology in support of its overall strategy within a Program Management framework. Andersen Consulting convened a diverse cross-spectrum of road analysts and best chickens along with Anderson consultants with deep skills in the transportation industry to engage in a two-day itinerary of meetings in order to leverage their personal knowledge capital, both tacit and explicit, and to enable them to synergize with each other in order to achieve the implicit goals of delivering and successfully architecting and implementing an enterprise-wide value framework across the continuum of poultry cross-median processes. The meeting was held in a park-like setting enabling and creating an impactful environment which was strategically based, industry-focused, and built upon a consistent, clear, and unified market message and aligned with the chicken's mission, vision, and core values. This was conducive towards the creation of a total business integration solution. Andersen Consulting helped the chicken change to become more successful.

LOUIS FARRAKHAN: The road, you see, represents the black man. The chicken `crossed' the black man in order to trample him and keep him down.

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.: I envision a world where all chickens will be free to cross roads without having their motives called into question.

MOSES: And God came down from the Heavens, and He said unto the chicken, ``Thou shalt cross the road.'' And the chicken crossed the road, and there was much rejoicing.

FOX MULDER: You saw it cross the road with your own eyes. How many more chickens have to cross the road before you believe it?

RICHARD M. NIXON: The chicken did not cross the road. I repeat, the chicken did NOT cross the road.

MACHIAVELLI: The point is that the chicken crossed the road. Who cares why? The end of crossing the road justifies whatever motive there was.

JERRY SEINFELD: Why does anyone cross a road? I mean, why doesn't anyone ever think to ask, What the heck was this chicken doing walking around all over the place, anyway?

FREUD: The fact that you are at all concerned that the chicken crossed the road reveals your underlying sexual insecurity.

BILL GATES: Our soon-to-be-released Chicken '98 will not only cross roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents, and balance your checkbook.

OLIVER STONE: The question is not, ``Why did the chicken cross the road?'' Rather, it is, ``Who was crossing the road at the sametime, whom we overlooked in our haste to observe the chicken crossing?''

DARWIN: Chickens, over great periods of time, have been naturally selected in such a way that they are now genetically disposed to cross roads.

EINSTEIN: Whether the chicken crossed the road or the road moved beneath the chicken depends upon your frame of reference.

BUDDHA: Asking this question denies your own chicken nature.

RALPH WALDO EMERSON: The chicken did not cross the road... it transcended it.

ERNEST HEMINGWAY: To die. In the rain.

MICHAEL SCHUMACHER: It was an instinctive maneuver, the chicken obviously didn't see the road until he had already started to cross.

COLONEL SANDERS (Famed for Kentucky Fried Chicken): I missed one?

PHYSICIST: Because the chicken's momentum had a positive component towards the other side of the road.

QUANTUM PHYSICIST: Because you measured its momentum too precisely.

MATHEMATICIAN: Because of the intermediate values theorem.

ALGEBRAIC GEOMETRIST: Well, consider a faithfully flat etale coherent sheaf...

C PROGRAMMER: cross_road() was called from get_other_side()

C++ PROGRAMMER: chicken->CrossRoad() was called from chicken->GetOtherSide()

RMS: The licenses for most roads are designed to take away your chicken's freedom to cross it. By contrast, the GALLUS Road Public Licence...

GARY LARSON: ``THE OTHER SIDE - Why do you need a reason?''

ENS STUDENT: Contretest.

OMAR KHAYYÁM:
I sent my Chicken across the Road,
Some Letter of that Other-side to download:
And by and by my Chicken return'd to me,
And answer'd ``I Myself am Princess and Toad:''

MARKETING DIVISION OF MICROSOFT CORPORATION: Where does your chicken want to go today?

MARVIN: The other side is just as dull as this one. Don't talk to me about chickens.

ARTHUR DENT: Why did the chicken cross the road? 42? No, that doesn't make sense.

GOETHE: Es irrt das Huhn, solang es die Straße übergeht.

HARI SELDON: It's part of the Plan.

HAMLET:
To cross, or not to cross, that is the question: -
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind, to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous side;
Or to take arms against a road of troubles,
And by crossing end them?

THERMODYNAMIST: Because the pressure of chickens was greater on this side of the road, and the chicken's crossing made the entropy greater.

If you were to be asked with this question, what would be your answer?  Mine would be because her boyfriend is waiting for her on the other side of the road or maybe because its chicken brain instinct dictates the chicken to cross.  What is yours?

Ivan Dorschner: PBB Teen Clash 2010

>> Wednesday, April 14, 2010

Erika is a teen-ager already.  Part of being a teen is that her preferences also change.  Although she is so crazy about Naruto, she is also a F4 fan and the latest thing she likes is the PBB Teen Clash 2010.  Her bet is the hottest teen inside the house, Ivan Anthony Dorschner was given the name Ivan Striking Stud ng Rizal by the PBB.  It cannot be refuted; he is the most well-liked teen inside Kuya’s house these days.  Be it Facebook, Twitter, Twitscoop, blogs, Youtube etc., he is everywhere.  He is very popular among teen-age girls.  He is being paired with Tricia a housemate from Davao City.

Who is Ivan?  Ivan or Ivan Anthony Dorschner is a son of a Filipina and an Irish.  His mother is a head nurse while his father is a retired handyman.  There are rumors that he did not audition for the PBB and that he was just discovered while participating in a game in Wowowee. I don’t know if this is true but who cares?  It is undeniable that the guy is so likable; every teen-age girl and even gays adored (don’t deny it) this chap.

Last Saturday, when PBB started, I was with Erika watching the show as the hosts Toni Gonzaga, Bianca Gonzales and Mariel Rodriguez introduced each housemate.  Erika, Eleonor and I decided to have Ivan as our bet.  I am not really into this kind of thing but if it is one of the ways to make me closer to Erika and for her to think of me as a friend instead of an elder sister, I would gladly do it.

Mellow Yellow Monday 2: Eldrige (EJ) and Erika

>> Monday, April 12, 2010

This picture was taken last week while my baby sister Erika and EJ were having a good time.  She was donning her favorite t-shirt given my Euvelyn as a gift.  We went outside the house because of the brownout and while waiting for the light to be restored, the two of them were frolicking.  I took this picture while she was tickling him.  She only stop when he was already breathless and on the verge of tears.  Like me, Erika would surely miss him when he will go back to Manila this Thursday.

Release the Kraken!

>> Wednesday, April 7, 2010

This famous line came from the 2010 film Clash of the Titans. It seems to be the favorite line these days that even me and Jason are not exempted from using it. Jason and I are both movie addicts who share the same genre. Mythology is one of our favorites. We even have a private joke about this “Release the Kraken” line. I want to share it here I can’t. If I do, it would no longer be a private joke hehehe.

After Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief was released on February, here comes another movie that focuses on my favorite subject, Mythology. I love anything that has to do with mythology; be it Greek or Roman, it doesn’t matter to me anymore. I grow up reading about them and I never get tired hearing their stories again and again, and watching my favorite characters come alive on big screen would be a great treat for a mythology fan like me. I wish I can find time to watch this movie. Sad to say I have to go to Davao City, Koronadal City or General Santos City if I want to enjoy this movie on big screen.

As if the monsters in Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief are not enough, Zeus is releasing a gargantuan monster, the Kraken in this movie when humans declared war against the gods of Mount Olympus. The Hydra in Percy Jackson made me cower in fear. I can’t imagine seeing the Kraken on the big screen. This remake of the 1981 Clash of the Titans is no different from the original according to some reviews; but it doesn’t matter to me as I have not seen the original film. I would rather watch the 2010 version as the special effects used is a lot better compare to the stop-motion effects that Ray Harryhausen had employed way back in 1981.

Of all the fruits, mango is my favorite.  I am taking advantage of it as it is mango season here at the present.   You can purchase them at 15 pesos per kilo.  would you believe it guys?  Last week, I had the best mango day of my life when I ate almost 2 kilos in one setting.   Call it gluttony but I don't care.  It is only once a year. :)

This PR thing

This is so far the biggest surprise that I received in my blogger's life.  I can’t believe what I am seeing right now. After 50 days since this blog was born, it already has 3 as its PR. I can’t believe it as my blog is somewhat new and I thought since it is new, it is not yet been indexed by Google. But judging from what I am seeing on my screen, I have to accept it as I cannot think of anything to argue with Google. I do not know what makes a site earn page rank. I am just grateful that my site was indexed as early as 50 days.

I am Home, Finally….

>> Thursday, April 1, 2010

Since we only have a half day duty yesterday, I planned to go home as early as possible but then the time I spent at the grocery to purchase Erin’s milk thwarted my plan. The grocery store was short of manpower. Some of the counters were closed for reasons I do not know. The throngs of queues were overwhelming and I was disgusted. The cashiers were also slow that I wanted to scream. I was on the verge of losing my patience; but for my niece’s sake, I have to endure it or else, I could not buy her milk. Finally, I was able to get out from the store with the can of milk in my grocery bag. I excitedly went to the house I am renting to pick up my things and then proceeded to the bus station only to see the bus which I am supposed to ride was already leaving. Hmmm…I have to wait again. Good thing, another bus which is headed for my destination was already boarding passengers so I competed with other passengers who like me were also in the hurry of going home. I was able to get a comfortable seat despite the chaos.

I was able to get home around 5:30p.m. It was starting to get dark and it was already raining. I found my nephew EJ still playing. I kissed him and gave him his favorite treat, a tetra pack of Chuckie. He was so excited about it. My little niece Erin was peacefully sleeping in her makeshift hammock. I wanted to kiss her but thinking of the germs that I brought in, I decided against it. I kissed her later after I washed myself up.
I was planning to sleep early as I was so tired from two hours trip. However, I was not able to do it. I spent the night talking with my sisters, Elanie and Eleonor. I tried to get online but to my dismay, I cannot establish a good internet connection. I turned off my laptop and continue chatting with my sisters. We slept around 12m.n.
