Release the Kraken!

>> Wednesday, April 7, 2010

This famous line came from the 2010 film Clash of the Titans. It seems to be the favorite line these days that even me and Jason are not exempted from using it. Jason and I are both movie addicts who share the same genre. Mythology is one of our favorites. We even have a private joke about this “Release the Kraken” line. I want to share it here I can’t. If I do, it would no longer be a private joke hehehe.

After Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief was released on February, here comes another movie that focuses on my favorite subject, Mythology. I love anything that has to do with mythology; be it Greek or Roman, it doesn’t matter to me anymore. I grow up reading about them and I never get tired hearing their stories again and again, and watching my favorite characters come alive on big screen would be a great treat for a mythology fan like me. I wish I can find time to watch this movie. Sad to say I have to go to Davao City, Koronadal City or General Santos City if I want to enjoy this movie on big screen.

As if the monsters in Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief are not enough, Zeus is releasing a gargantuan monster, the Kraken in this movie when humans declared war against the gods of Mount Olympus. The Hydra in Percy Jackson made me cower in fear. I can’t imagine seeing the Kraken on the big screen. This remake of the 1981 Clash of the Titans is no different from the original according to some reviews; but it doesn’t matter to me as I have not seen the original film. I would rather watch the 2010 version as the special effects used is a lot better compare to the stop-motion effects that Ray Harryhausen had employed way back in 1981.

Watching Avatar

>> Sunday, February 21, 2010

We sent off our mother this morning for her flight to Manila. I thought my father would be with us but for some unknown reason, he went home very early. He did not wait for my mother’s departure time. Yesterday, I wondered what made him accompany her in going to Cotabato City to spend Saturday night with us. We left the airport as soon as Nanay checked in. We went straight to Euvelyn’s home and lazily spend the afternoon watching Avatar.
It was a good movie and I enjoyed it very much though I passed out several times to oblivion while watching the whole length of the movie. I think I am going to watch it again when I get the time. I am not going to elaborate what it was all about as I am sure everybody have watched this movie. I just hope this movie left a lesson in each one of us. If we do not stop being selfish and greedy, we will end up exhausting and destroying our planet in the process rendering our own civilization its looming demise.
That is all for now fellahs! I am off to sleep as tomorrow is another grueling work day. Wish me luck.
